St. Clair Sound

Post Production Audio Services

Who is that guy and why is he laughing?

I may not have set out to be a post production sound mixer, but today it is hard to imagine that I’d choose any other path. I grew up around music my entire life, learning to play multiple instruments and various styles but I wasn’t sure how I would turn that into a career. While studying Electrical Engineering as an undergraduate at West Virginia University, learning about active electronics and digital signal processing, I began to understand the connection between the science and art of sound.

My interest in recorded music led me to pursue a Master's Degree in Audio Sciences from the Peabody Institute at The Johns Hopkins University, where I graduated in 2007. I began working professionally at Producers as a resident audio engineer working on many video projects, including advertising and marketing campaigns for companies around the mid-Atlantic region. Today, I continue to work as an audio engineer specializing in post production, working with agencies and producers for projects as varied as :15 PSAs to long-form documentaries for Discovery Networks and Smithsonian UK

I also teach audio courses in both music technology and film sound, having served as an adjunct instructor and lecturer at Towson University, Loyola University of Maryland and at my alma mater of Johns Hopkins.

(Oh yeah! I’m also a real-life human being with a wife and kids, whom I love to spend time with. I sometimes leave my studio to go hiking, camping, and fishing when I get a chance. You may see me volunteering as a leader for my sons’ Cub Scout pack or at their school or sometimes as a coach. That may be the biggest reason I’m smiling and laughing. )
